Members Should Actively Look Into Joining Huimin Insurance — and Whether to Leave KangAi Commune Right Afterward

Cities across the country have launched urban Huimin Insurance (it goes by different names in different places; in Shanghai it is Hu Hui Bao). These government-led commercial insurance products often have no age limits or thresholds, with loose conditions and no denial of claims — they are all very good. I suggest members actively look into joining them, especially middle-aged and older people and people who are already ill; these are relatively scarce products, and joining them is ideal.

KangAi Commune has always positioned mutual aid as a supplement to public and commercial insurance. When public and commercial insurance can solve a problem, we actively recommend that members use them, and Huimin Insurance is what the Commune recommends members look into and join first.

As for whether to leave KangAi Commune after joining Huimin Insurance, that is for each member to decide for themselves, but my personal view is that they need not do so for the time being.

On the one hand, Huimin Insurance has only recently been launched, and the problems it has and its real benefits for the insured are still somewhat uncertain, so it is worth watching for another two years.

On the other hand, KangAi Commune's mutual aid and Huimin Insurance are strongly complementary and can be held at the same time. KangAi Commune's critical-illness mutual aid commune, for example, provides aid as long as the joining conditions are met and a malignant cancer is diagnosed, and it can serve as compensation for lost work, living costs and the family over and above medical expenses — after all, what is lost in a critical illness is not only the medical bill.

Huimin Insurance can solve only part of the medical problem, and expecting one product to solve everything is unrealistic. A combination of approaches, working on several fronts and layering protections, will certainly be the best choice for a long time to come.
