Choosing the Right Mutual Aid Commune According to Your Own Circumstances Is the Prerequisite for Receiving Aid

The reason we set up different mutual aid communes, each with different health requirements, is to ensure basic fairness within the same commune: only when people's circumstances are broadly similar is there a basis for mutual aid. Imagine a group of healthy people and a group of sick people forming a mutual aid arrangement — that is equivalent to the healthy donating money to the sick over the long term. That works in the short term, but it cannot be sustained in the long term.

Members therefore need to look carefully at each commune's joining requirements according to their own age and state of health, and join the appropriate one. Join the wrong commune and you will be unable to receive mutual aid.
