On the Review Process: High Review Costs and Long Review Times

Zhang Mading1 min read

When a member seeks help through the Commune, the claim must be reviewed by a third-party review agency. Whatever the outcome of such a review, we must pay the review company; the current price is 3,000 yuan per review (higher for some cases), and we have currently contracted four review companies.

The purpose of third-party review is to ensure the authenticity of each aid payment; this is a responsibility to every member.

In practice, there are currently several problems:

1. Some members feel the cost is too high. For the time being there is no solution. KangAi Commune was the earliest mutual aid platform; at the beginning third-party review was actually cheaper, but because we disclose the invoices, the review company felt this would make it hard to explain to its other partners and raised the price.

2. The timeliness of review is unsatisfactory. We give the review company one month per case, and longer for special cases. In practice some members find this too long.

Members often complain about these problems on the forum. There is currently no satisfactory solution, but we are exploring more efficient and more economical approaches. One of them is that we may also recruit and build our own review teams in some regions across the country—though whether to do so still needs further evaluation.

I personally believe that the review problem is a major hidden danger to the development of mutual aid platforms. If handled poorly, it will affect the healthy development of the platform. At present, third-party services cannot yet keep up with the needs of mutual aid's development. This was expressed before: http://club.kags.com/thread-127475-1-1.html
