Cherish the Few Mutual Aid Platforms That Still Remain

No one can predict when an accident or an illness will strike. For an ordinary family, a serious illness often means enormous medical pressure — it can even drag an entire household's life down. It is precisely because of this harsh reality that voluntary mutual aid organizations for critical illness have a reason to exist.

In recent years, many platforms of this kind have shut down one after another. Platforms such as KangAi Commune, which have held on to this day, have not had an easy road. Fifteen years of sustained commitment, tens of thousands of families in hardship helped, and mutual aid funds raised that have genuinely eased the burden of treatment for countless patients — they have given ordinary people one more simple layer of protection at the bottom. Relying on people helping one another, with a low threshold and low cost, it is a goodwill protection system formed spontaneously among the people, an important complement to society's warmth, and it carries real social value.

We never shy away from it: the platform still has many shortcomings. As a purely private mutual aid system, it has no substantial capital behind it, and in terms of operating model, review procedures, rule updates, and case handling, it can hardly be flawless. In day-to-day operations, it is inevitable that handling is sometimes not timely enough, rules are not complete enough, and answers are not detailed enough, causing some members to feel misunderstood, aggrieved, and dissatisfied. These problems are real, and they deserve to be faced squarely and improved.

But precisely for that reason, we need to see things clearly: the mutual aid platform is not perfect, but it is a rare stronghold of popular goodwill today. It does not run for profit; it relies on the trust of millions of ordinary members and on every small act of shared contribution. People help each other day to day — when one is in trouble, everyone supports them — and with the smallest of offerings they hold up hope for families in hardship. This pure goodwill is worth cherishing and protecting.

Here, I also sincerely call on every member: view problems rationally, and build the platform together with goodwill. Disputes, doubts, and dissatisfaction are all normal. But emotional accusations, following the crowd in questioning, quitting in a fit of pique, and spreading negative talk solve nothing — they only wear down the hard-won atmosphere of mutual aid and damage this entire stronghold of goodwill.

The real way to solve problems is rational communication and constructive feedback. If you have doubts, consult official channels; if you have reasonable suggestions, raise them patiently; if you are dissatisfied, defend your rights rationally and in accordance with the rules. Show a little more tolerance and understanding toward the platform's shortcomings, and a little more patience as its rules are improved. The platform's growth is itself a process of constant correction and refinement.

The original aspiration of helping one another was hard-won, and the mutual aid platforms that remain today are all the more precious. I hope every member can keep goodwill in their heart, stay rational, and cherish this mutual support among ordinary people. Let us tolerate the shortcomings together, build together hand in hand, and let this simple goodwill endure, continuing to shield more ordinary families from the storms of serious illness and to safeguard their hope for life.
