Seeing the Absurdity of Reality Clearly, Holding to Our Duty, and Moving Forward
In these years of running KangAi Commune, I have gradually come to feel a certain helplessness and absurdity in reality.
We have truly helped many families in difficulty, and most of this help has been silent. Many members who received aid quietly send thank-you letters expressing gratitude, but few would proactively speak up for the platform to the outside world or to the relevant authorities. Thousands of acts of goodwill land, yet often receive no public recognition or commendation.
But just two or three complaints can completely change the situation. All sides will demand that we give an account, accept review, and take responsibility. The few whose applications were rejected or whose demands were not met easily develop strong antagonism, and try every means to discredit and attack the entire platform.
Good deeds do not travel far, yet conflict gets magnified—this is the reality that objectively exists; there is no need to be indignant, nor to wallow in grievance. Seeing this side of human nature and of circumstances is not for complaining, but to help us calibrate what to do next.
First, make the rules and the evidence solid. Every review, every rejection, must be traceable in process and clearly documented in its basis. Do not judge by personal sentiment; make everything open and transparent, using the system to reduce disputes and to protect both the platform and the vast majority of members.
Second, lower expectations of positive feedback from the outside. Don't crave praise and commendation, and don't let a few extreme voices make us doubt ourselves. Our value lies not in the judgment of outsiders, but in the people we have genuinely helped. Accept the reality that "goodwill is silent while controversy is loud," and reduce emotional drain.
Third, face conflicts squarely, don't avoid them, but don't be swept up by them either. When complaints and doubts arise, respond when a response is due, explain when an explanation is due, and handle matters according to procedure. But do not be led astray by the emotions of a few, do not fall into confrontation, and all the more do not let it disrupt the overall direction.
Fourth, look for opportunities for improvement in conflict. Every dispute is a window that reveals our weak points. Review whether the problem lies in the rules, in communication, or in a gap in understanding, and use that to iterate the product, improve how we communicate, and find a more sustainable path forward.
The world has never found it easy to achieve absolute fairness. We cannot change human nature in the outside world; we can only refine our own approach. Neither idealize nor despair; see the absurdity clearly, but do not be assimilated by it. Settle the mind, hold to our original intent, do things right, and keep moving forward.
