Mutual Aid Is Only One Means; Protection Is the Ultimate Goal

Reflecting on the Commune's founding purpose, we should reach a common understanding: that everyone has complete protection is our ultimate goal. This goal actually contains two meanings: first, everyone must have an awareness of protection and must act; second, everyone must have a form of protection they can afford. Mutual aid is only one of our means; it seeks both to awaken an awareness of protection and to offer instruments within our reach.

But it is not the only means. KangAi Commune constantly reminds its members not to let the Commune replace public health insurance and commercial insurance, but to regard it as one supplementary means of completing one's own protection.

When misfortune strikes, the more money the better. This is my own experience as someone who has been through it. If you have not yet had that experience, consider it your good fortune; and when you do, I hope you will not regret that you failed to act when you could.
