Strictly Enforcing the Mutual Aid Covenant Is Also Self-Protection for the Commune's Operators

Zhang Mading1 min read

Those who get the money blame the Commune for being heartless; those who don't get it blame the Commune for being a scam. When contributions are low, they think the Commune's headcount is fake; when contributions are high, they find it suspicious.

We operate in an environment full of suspicion and distrust, and doing something like this, we cannot fail to think about safety.

Someone threatens to come to our door and make trouble.

Someone threatens to report us to such-and-such department.

Someone publicly posts that the Commune is a new kind of scam.

Platform operators are ordinary people too, and they need a sense of security.

The only way is to strictly enforce the mutual aid covenant.

Some say that is heartless.

But if we were to be "humane," other people would certainly accuse the Commune of favoritism and malpractice.

If someone won't provide proof of illness, they blame the Commune for making things hard for the applicant.

But without proof, isn't the applicant making things hard for the Commune's operators?

When pressure comes from all sides, nothing else is reliable. So-called humanity cannot override the law; only the mutual aid covenant can protect the platform's operators.

Those who get the money don't publicize the Commune.

Those who don't get it publicize it even less.

That is the difficulty.

But difficult as it is, we must carry on. The Century Commune is a settled goal, and I believe these problems will all be overcome.
