The Century Commune: My Lifelong Commitment

Zhang Mading3 min read

These days the online mutual aid industry is seeing a wave of shutdowns, and there may be more in 2017. So recently a few friends have worried: will KangAi Commune suddenly announce that it is closing? Let it be stated here: KangAi Commune is determined to be a Century Commune and will never waver! This is also a lifelong commitment of President Zhang Mading.

Five Years of Perseverance, a Proven Original Mission

From May 8, 2011 to today, KangAi Commune has operated for five and a half years, crossing the milestone of 2,000 days of operation. It went through a long period of exploration, unknown and unrecognized, before reaching today's flourishing development. Founder Zhang Mading's earliest inspiration for KangAi Commune came from a deeply personal life experience: his mother had cancer, and having tasted the cold and warmth of human relations, he hoped to devise a model with a low threshold that could also raise critical-illness medical expenses for ordinary people.

More than half of the team's other members have also lived through a family member's critical illness; they feel the pressure of critical-illness medical costs deeply. To us, doing KangAi Commune well is both a belief and a responsibility.

Steadiness Above All: A Lifelong Commitment

President Zhang Mading says: “As the founder and head of Anti-Cancer Commune, I constantly remind myself of the original purpose in founding it. I promise that I will give up operating the Commune under only two circumstances: first, the government forces it to close; second, membership dwindles to below 10,000. Apart from these, whether rich or poor, healthy or ill, whether the Commune can be profitable or requires continued investment, I will not give up operating it. I make this commitment.”

In short: first, barring a very small number of scenarios, we will discipline and regulate ourselves and do our utmost to avoid risks; second, as long as members do not abandon the Commune, the Commune will not give up. KangAi Commune's critical-illness mutual aid is absolutely not about “betting on a trend.” Without the perseverance and patience to solve a social problem, the Commune could not have lasted until now, and a Century Commune requires taking every step steadily.

The Century Commune: Our Shared Faith

Why do we strive to be a Century Commune brand? Because KangAi Commune's value lies in time. A brief burst of passion is worthless; only lasting perseverance keeps an enterprise evergreen—and long-term development is precisely the greatest responsibility to all our members.

We believe that today's regulatory involvement is more conducive to the long-term healthy development of the industry: it clarifies the policy red lines, raises the entry threshold for the industry to a certain extent, and helps purify it. President Zhang Mading says: “I too worked at an insurance company for four years and a securities firm for four years. During that time the various systems and inspections the companies had for legal compliance left a deep impression on me.”

While holding to self-discipline, KangAi Commune operates in strict legal compliance, works hard to serve members, and creates positive energy for society. Legal compliance is what President Zhang Mading thinks about most. It took him years to design the Anti-Cancer Commune system, which he has upheld without wavering.

Our mission is: to strive for a world where no one has to worry about medical expenses!

We already have successful cases proving that pooling the strength of the group can address risks an individual cannot withstand!

This is the shared faith of our members. After 5 years, 10 years, 100 years, the original aspiration will remain—with you, with me, with all of us!
