At Forty, Why Does XiangHuBao Reduce Benefits to 100,000 Yuan While KangAi Commune Still Offers 300,000?
Suppose someone joins XiangHuBao and KangAi Commune's Critical-Illness Society and Anti-Cancer Society before turning 40. After they turn 40, XiangHuBao's cancer mutual aid benefit drops to 100,000 yuan, while KangAi Commune continues to maintain 300,000 yuan unchanged.
As someone in his forties, if I look only at the society that offers the same 100,000 yuan cancer and critical-illness benefit as XiangHuBao—the KangAi Critical-Illness Mutual Aid Society—XiangHuBao's cost-sharing has already exceeded KangAi Commune's. But because I also joined the Anti-Cancer Mutual Aid Society (neither of these two societies reduces benefits as age increases), if cancer strikes I can still receive 300,000 yuan.
This also shows that XiangHuBao and KangAi Commune are, in fact, two different kinds of protection.
With XiangHuBao, the older one gets, the smaller one's mutual aid benefit, which controls the cost of cost-sharing; but young people who have been contributing all along and gradually reach the age of high critical-illness risk may feel it is unfair that their benefits are reduced.
With KangAi Commune, a person who stays in the Commune and keeps contributing has a benefit that remains unchanged. In the long run, cost-sharing will be higher than XiangHuBao's, but the benefit also stays high.
So each has its pros and cons, and it depends entirely on your needs and your choice.
