[Reimburse Up to 1 Million] vs. [Pay 100,000 on Diagnosis]: Which Type of Mutual Aid Has Higher Cost-Sharing?

The latter! And considerably higher!

The former offers reimbursement of up to one million yuan (or even six or eight million), but very few actually reach that level. Since everyone's public health insurance can generally reimburse part of the costs, the money members actually spend on a critical illness is far below one million. Moreover, such mutual aid usually has a deductible—for example, only expenses above 10,000 yuan of out-of-pocket spending are reimbursable.

By contrast, mutual aid that pays 100,000 or 300,000 yuan upon diagnosis may not look as large as one million, but regardless of how much the public health insurance covers, it is a real, tangible sum of money.

Each type of mutual aid has its pros and cons: the former has lower cost-sharing, the latter higher.

So how to choose is up to members to decide according to their needs.

At KangAi Commune:

The Medical Supplementary Mutual Aid Society reimburses up to one million yuan, and the cost-sharing is currently extremely low.

The KangAi Critical-Illness Mutual Aid Society and the Anti-Cancer Mutual Aid Society pay 300,000 yuan upon diagnosis, with higher cost-sharing than the former.
