KangAi Commune Has No Motive to Make Things Difficult for Mutual Aid Applicants
Recently I blocked a friend I had gotten to know years ago through the Commune, because he spread word in his social circle that we deliberately make things difficult for mutual aid applicants and that we are scammers. As I understand it, the reason is that he refused to provide the additional medical materials we requested and voluntarily gave up his application.
KangAi Commune has developed an online mutual aid application process. This system is fairly complex. If there are imperfections in details and technical aspects, we admit it, and we are working hard to continue developing and improving it. But we do not admit the claim that we deliberately deceive users and make things difficult for members, because no matter how you analyze it, we have no such motive:
1. Mutual aid funds are shared equally by all members; they are not funded by the Commune. Refusing aid does not increase our income, so fundamentally there is no profit motive.
2. Making things difficult for applicants damages the Commune's reputation and makes operations and promotion harder. We are not foolish enough to drive members away.
3. Refusing aid reduces the amount raised, and the Commune's service fees and other income decrease accordingly. 4. Going back and forth with members increases the workload of operations.
The reason a few users feel unhappy may be related to how KangAi Commune operates: since everything must be publicly disclosed, we are accountable to all members and must make the disclosed materials as complete and error-free as possible. Under these circumstances we can only be strict about all kinds of materials, or we cannot account to members.
We ask members to understand and to cooperate actively by providing the required materials and assisting with the review.
