Why Are Contributions Rising Even as Members Increase? (Must-Read)
Suppose the incidence rate is one in a thousand, the amount each person contributes is fixed, and other factors are ignored.
The Commune has 1 million people, of whom 100,000 have passed the waiting period. That is 1 million people sharing the cost of 100 patients—0.0001 patients per person. Contributions are low.
The Commune has 2 million people, of whom 1 million have passed the waiting period. That is 2 million people sharing the cost of 1,000 patients—0.0005 patients per person. Contributions rise fivefold.
The Commune has 5 million people, all 5 million of whom have passed the waiting period. That is 5 million people sharing the cost of 5,000 patients—0.0010 patients per person. Contributions rise tenfold.
Do you see it now? This is why, although the number of people increased fourfold, contributions rose nearly tenfold.
Don't question why the Commune's contributions have increased before you understand this reasoning.
The third of the three situations above can be regarded as the ultimate contribution situation of a mutual aid platform; we may call it the normal state.
In other words, a mutual aid platform will inevitably see contributions rise until they reach equilibrium. In the early days, contributions are determined by the proportion of members who have passed the waiting period. All platforms follow this rule. When all platforms reach equilibrium, how much members contribute depends on the platform's risk-control capability.
Every case in the Commune is reviewed by a third party, and members visit in person to witness it, so it stands up to scrutiny. The Commune makes everything public. You are welcome to learn more.

In the end, the contribution level of a mutual aid platform also depends on its risk-control capability and the design of its terms—provided that the principle of fairness is guaranteed. KangAi Commune currently has the strictest membership conditions and review; the purpose is also to ensure fairness, which is the precondition for long-term sustainability. The Commune's goal is to be a Century Commune.
