Clarification and Reminder Regarding Misinterpretations of the 10-Yuan and 3-Yuan Figures
At the very beginning, Anti-Cancer Commune set the upper limit of each member's contribution to each patient at 10 yuan, on the assumption that with too few people, no individual's burden would be too heavy.
In 2015, as membership grew, we lowered it to 3 yuan, so that a member contributes no more than 3 yuan per patient (see the announcement at the time).
Note that this refers to the contribution per patient.
But in the course of promotion, some members misunderstood what the 3 yuan means, mistaking it for a cap of 3 yuan on total monthly cost-sharing (some even thought it was no more than 1 yuan a month). That is incorrect: in fact, if there are many cases in a given month, it will exceed 3 yuan.
If you joined on that premise, please think soon about whether to stay in the Commune. Cost-sharing is still low at present, but after some time it will inevitably exceed 3 yuan a month.
This is true not only of Anti-Cancer Commune but of any organization of this kind—it is only a matter of time. At members' current level of benefits, 3 yuan a month simply cannot buy back what you receive.
Still, from the standpoint of why the Commune was founded, I hope you will stay. If you think this way is too expensive, you will never find a cheaper one. Or stay until you find something better and then leave; at least during this time you have the Commune's protection—a means of guarding against risk.
